Pet Buddy

Robert’s practical idea was born out of love for his dog and his need to care for him. His dog had to be treated for flea hot spots with a standard spray treatment which greatly frightened the dog.

One day during a flea treatment, Robert realized that most animals dislike these sprays but they love being brushed. So he began brushing his dog’s coat while administering the treatment. It worked perfectly. The dog was content while the treatment was applied. Thus, the Pet Buddy was born.

The rest of the story is also interesting. After a few licensing offers, Robert selected a company but it didn’t work out well. Corporate plans changed and the company decided not to bring the Pet Buddy to market. Robert took the product back and teamed up with a direct marketer in 2005 to commercialize his invention. It has sold on TV, by direct mail and in selected pet stores.
